Ensuring ‘Safety’ as we start returning to work….

Ensuring ‘Safety’ as we start returning to work….

We have moved to Alert Level 3! This means that the requirement to operate your business shifts from essential services to any business that can safely operate. However, this Alert Level change does not mean that every worker can leave their bubble and return to their workplace.

Only workers who cannot operate from home are allowed to return to work

If you are one of these businesses who are re-opening from Tuesday 28 April, there are some guidelines that must be followed:

  1. If an Employee can work from home, they should continue to do so until New Zealand moves to Alert Level 2. This means if there are certain teams within your business who have been able to successfully work from home, they must continue to do so. Only Employees who have not been able to are allowed to return to the workplace.
  • All operations must be contactless. This means that the good/service you are providing must not be done in a way that would put either an Employee or a Client at risk of being exposed to Covid-19.
  • Tracing Systems must be set up to record all individuals who are coming into contact with one another in the workplace. Having these in the workplace will enable identification of people who have come into contact with one another, allowing successful tracking if there was exposure to an individual with Covid-19.
  • Implementation of other health and safety practices like social distancing, staggered meal breaks and appropriate cleaning regimes. This will help minimise any exposure between Employees whilst being in the workplace.
